Beer Can Chicken

Beer, chicken, and grilling are three of the best parts of summer. Put them all together for an easy and delicious dinner.

Ingredients

  • whole chicken-thawed

  • salt/pepper

  • olive oil (or whatever oil you prefer)

  • 1-12oz can of beer (we're a BUD LIGHT family so that's what we use, but you do you)

Directions

  1. Pre-heat grill to med/high heat

  2. Remove any neck, giblets, etc from your chicken and pat dry with a paper towel. Slather the bird in oil and season with salt and pepper (you can add extra spices if you want).

  3. Crack open a can of beer. The beer needs to be half empty...so you can either pour half of it out or drink it. Its up to you. I know what we would do...

  4. Set the half empty can of beer on a flat surface and plop the chicken over it. See the picture above of this happy chicken dancing with his beer.

  5. Carefully transfer the beer and chicken to the grill. You'll want to use the can and the two legs as tripod to get the chicken to stand on the grill. Make sure you aren't putting the chicken over direct heat.

  6. Close the lid and let it cook for about 1 1/4 hours. Its done when the thighs are 165 degrees and the juices run clear.
