Kid Update: 2021

PIcture of our kids, Kyle, Gabe, Hunter, and Katie.

It’s finally happened, we’re empty nesters. Our youngest moved to college, the second youngest moved out of state, the third youngest moved closer to home and the oldest must not have gotten the “move memo” because he stayed put.

Lil G “flew the coop” to go to college. He’s decided that farm life isn’t in the cards.  The bright side has been he’s close enough to come back and watch the farm when we are gone and we only have to bribe him with home cooked food and gas for his truck. It should also be pointed out that although we miss him like the dickens it’s the dogs that probably notice the change the most.

Katie and Nathan moved from Iowa to Florida for a dream job. We drove them down around Memorial Day weekend and got to see some of our extended family in Florida during that trip (see above where Gabe watches the farm while we’re gone). We miss Katie too but we’re pretty sure having a child living in Florida will pay dividends this winter! And while being apart from her youngest daughter has been hard on Aunt TT being away from Hugo Murphy (the farm’s official Weiner dog) as been the real struggle.

Hunter and Josh moved to Boone (a mere 15 miles away) and are building a life together with their awesome dog Lazer. They don’t get to the farm a lot but having them close is a real blessing. Lazer is working on getting used to the farm and loves to follow G around every chance he gets. He’ll be an official farm dog in no time;)

Kyle has stayed put in Wisconsin. He’s not as old as Uncle G was when he married TT. It’s crazy to think hold old our children are getting  and somehow that also means we’re getting older too. :)

We’ve been parents since our late teens/ early 20s so this ‘empty nest’ thing is pretty new. I think we’ll figure it out and who knows, maybe even enjoy it.
